Sailing on Bonaire has become a very popular activity. Hundreds of sailing yachts from all nationalities pass by every year and spend a few weeks, sometimes months and even years on our marine park waters. Many tour operators on the island offer also the possibility of enjoying day-sail or sunset experiences where you can simply relax and have a good time together with a few drinks and food on board. Our local “Kas di Regatta” and the local sailing school offer the possibility to learn in small boats like the optimist or sunfish, even get competitive at it. We at GO Sailing Bonaire would like to introduce you to “CRUISER” like experiences.
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever”

Luna is a Bonaire resident vessel. Registration number B-494. Has a long history under her belt and has sailed around the caribbean. Despite the size it is very easy to maneuver even for the beginner sailor which makes it an ideal boat for a first experience. Has a motion comfort ratio of 34.5, a very stable boat at sea.
Since 2016 Luna has been going into a renovation process. It has been long but time and effort have paid off. Luna is back in the water since 2018, the systems for navigation and safety have been completely renewed as well as the standing and running rigging. Luna has been granted in 2019 both NATIONAL SAFETY CERTIFICATE and NATURE PERMIT required by the local authorities for boats operating commercially in the waters of the Bonaire Marine Park.
The NAJAD 34 was the first model to be launched by the Swedish quality shipyard on the boatbuilder’s island of Orust in 1971. It was a top seller and remained in the program until 1983 (in total aprrox. 350 units were built). Very solid polyester, traditional construction (actually certified by LLOYD’S) and excellent seakeeping especially in uncomfortable conditions (ballast ratio: approx. 42 %). The design with semi-long keel (s-shaped hull) and rudder on skeg gives good course stability and smooth, dry sailing. Jolana is hull #19 and built in the year 1974.

Living on Bonaire since he was a kid
Started traveling in 2016, after exploring multiple countries in South America for several months, decided to end the journey on Bonaire in December 2016, the island where she got raised. Plans to stay and work for only 3 months, did not work out, as she completely fell in love with this island and is calling Bonaire her home now. Quickly after arriving on Bonaire Lotte got introduced to sailing, she started working for a company called The Woodwind, where she learned the basics of sailing. Eager to learn more of sailing, she flew to Saint Marten in May 2019 joining a 44foot monohull, that was sailing from Saint Marten to Anguilla and further to the British Virgin Islands. After that adventure a couple more followed, to Klein Curacao, Around Bonaire and the last and roughest one Bonaire to Aruba and Back. Understanding more and more the wind and maneuvering the boat, she feels confident to teach the basic sailing skills.
